You tackled two complex and painful conditions well. Thank you for unfolding them clearly.

I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia almost 30 years ago. They don't know anymore about it now than they did back then. It is a diagnosis given by eliminating everything else they can test for, and it is a cop out for doctors who are lazy and want to write patients off.

Mine was set off by a car accident where I was rear-ended, and I read that is a common trigger. That, and a history of trauma. I can tell you that I absolutely have chronic inflammation, despite what the research says. I believe that fibromyalgia and CFS often coexist.

What helped me was getting off antidepressants and muscle relaxants and exercising. Walking, yoga, meditating. You have to build SLOWLY, but it can be done. Doctors will not help you. Most of them don't even believe it is a real condition, probably because it's mostly women who have it.

This has been my experience.

I spent my childhood as a caregiver to a mother that suffered from this. I still haven’t found most of the pieces of my heart from this experience. I didn’t fully realize how traumatized I was from this until reading this right now. Funny how you learn things later on in life as you become more “aware” and “emotionally intelligent”. I pray 🙏🏽 for anyone experiencing this that they have true love around them like we did. 💚 Ameen!

Both Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome are common, yet their root causes remain a mystery. While I haven't personally experienced them, I've seen many friends, colleagues, and even a family member suffer from these conditions, significantly impacting their quality of life. Unfortunately, they were often met with dismissive attitudes, even from well-meaning healthcare professionals. For example, my own adult child was told by her GP that her issues were "all in her mind," despite biomarkers indicating chronic inflammation caused by excessive stress, lack of sleep, poor diet, and over-exercising. Emotional struggles from a painful relationship only made things worse. We need more empathy, an open mind, and a holistic approach to addressing these complex conditions. As a retired healthcare professional, I understand the profound impact these conditions have on patients. Thank you for writing this valuable piece and raising awareness with such knowledge, research, and compassion.
